Karl E Weick states the concept of sensemaking is literally about ‘making sense’ of confusing information. It has also been described by Meryl Louis as ‘a thinking process that uses retrospective accounts to explain surprises’.



When you find yourself in a confusing situation where there is no defined 'right answer', search for clues by asking other people for their perceptions. Their insights may help you find overlooked information to help you find the best decision making path.
